It’s Racing Season Again! Time for 1/2 Marathon Training!

It is that time of year…the scent of fall is in the air, the temperatures are finally starting to cool a little, and the racing season is just around the corner!

Why not make 2013 your year to try a 1/2 marathon? Already done one or more? What about setting a personal record in your next half?

Of course, Giant Strides Fitness is here to help you accomplish both!

I will be training a group of runners to run in the Fiesta Bowl/ Runner’s Den 1/2 marathon that will take place on December 15, 2013 in Old Town Scottsdale. If you are interested, I offer a range of racing preparations plans for both the inexperienced runner and the veteran.

For just $150 you will receive a full 11-week training plan, and weekly long runs, building in intensity and distance, on Saturdays with at various locations. If you already have a training but would like some company on your runs, you are more than welcome to join us for our long runs for just $5.00 a run. You can save and purchase an 10-run package  $45.00.

Half Marathon Training Time!

As we head into fall, what will be your goal?  Have you ever wanted to compete in your first half marathon or get a PR in your next race? Well Giant Strides is here to help you achieve your goals. Racing season is upon us, and the Fiesta Bowl/Runner’s Den is the next race we will be competing in. Although the race is December 15th, training will begin last week in September.

If you are interested I offer racing plans for the inexperienced runner all the way to the experienced.  For just $150 you will receive a 12 week training plan as well as weekly long runs on Saturday with the group at various locations. If you already have an idea of a plan you are more than welcome to come join us on long runs for just $5.00 a run, all group runs will begin the first weekend in October. Please let me know if you are interested in joining our group.

As always, Giant Strides offers classes on Monday Wednesday, and Friday from 5:45-6:45 AM at Windgate Ranch and  9:00-10:00 AM at Windgate Ranch.  I also offer a 5:45-7:00 AM class on Tuesday and Thursday at Desert Willow Park in Cave Creek.  I would love to see you out there!  The classes are structured to focus on specific body parts during each workout.  They are designed for total body conditioning and include strength and body toning exercises using resistance bands, jump ropes, and medicine balls.

Want to Try a Tri

Have you ever wanted to try a triathlon? Well now is your chance, Giant Strides Fitness will be putting together a training group for the Lifetime Triathlon on September 22, 2013 in Tempe. You can choose between the Sprint Distance which is a 400 swim, 10 mile bike, and 3.2 mile run, or the International Distance which is a 1500 meter swim, 24 mile bike, and 6.2 mile run. You will swim in Tempe town lake then bike and run in the same area.

Training is already underway but you’re welcome to join the program. The training schedule will consist of five days of training with at least one discipline per day with two days off per week if you choose to do the Sprint. If you choose to do the International Distance there will be some days that will require two disciplines in a day. I will be writing the programs and we will do a group workout on Saturdays and some group swims on Sundays. The programs will cost $200.00 for the Sprint and $250.00 for the International distance .

IT’S RACING SEASON…

Hey Everyone!

Have you ever wanted to compete in your first half marathon or get a PR (Personal Record) in your next race? Well, Giant Strides is here to help you achieve just that! Racing season is upon us, and the San Diego Rock n’ Roll Marathon / Half Marathon is the next big race to prepare for.

Although the race is June 2nd, which seems like forever away, training will begin the first weekend in March. We offer racing plans for all runner levels, from the newbie to the veteran. When you sign up for the Giant Strides program you will receive a 12 week training plan as well as weekly long runs on Saturday with a group of at various locations around the area. Check the site for prices and schedules.

For those of you who already have a plan developed, you’re welcome to join out weekly runs which will begin in March.

We also wanted to remind everyone of the great special that we are running this month for new Giant Strides members. You can buy a one, two, or three month membership and get an extra month for free!

If you have a boyfriend, husband or friend that is looking to get into shape for the upcoming spring and summer months, now is the time to sign up at www.GiantStridesFitness.com.

Last but not least, there will be a hike this weekend (2/15) at Gateway Trail Head located in the McDowell Mountain Preserve on Saturday morning. The hike will begin at 7:30 and will be a 7 mile hike through the beautiful McDowell Mountains. Sign up online and watch for the upcoming Hiking Club spring schedule.

THEA WEATHER IS COOLING…

Did anyone notice the drastic change in our morning weather this week?  You know what that means…it is time to get out and go for a morning run, hike, or join in with a morning boot camp workout!  The great news is Giant Strides Fitness is offering a run and a hike this weekend, and of course has a daily boot camp.
If you are interested in joining us for a “longer” run, we will be doing either 8 or 9 this weekend.  Anyone is welcome to come out and join us.  We will meet at Horselover’s Park just south of the 101 on Tatum at 6:00 am.  Please register through the site ( giantstridesfitness.com ) if you are interested or drop me a line back.
Also, I wanted to let everyone know that we will have our hiking group this weekend.  We are going to meet at 6:00 am on Sunday, September 16, 2012 at Camelback Mountain on the Cholla Trail Head.  You will need to park on Invergordon Street, south of Cholla Lane.  The trail is only 3.5 miles long but the last 1/8 of a miles does require you to do a little bit of rock climbing.  It is a very fun hike to do and the view at the top is amazing.  If you are interested in signing up for the hike please register though my website at http://giantstridesfitness.com/hiking.aspx .
