Well now that the kids are back to school, it is time to concentrate on your fitness goals for this year.  Do you want to start hiking again? Or what about training for your first half marathon?  Both of these things are possible, and the best part about it is that you can do it with a fun and energetic group of women around you.


Giant Strides Fitness is now offering both beginner and intermediate hiking groups.  The beginner hiking group will go no more than 4 miles and the intermediate group will hike an average of 8 miles.  So if you have always wanted to try to go for a hike but have been to intimidated by the mileage or the thought of going out there by yourself is not what you like to do, now is your chance to try it out with a group.  The first hike for the beginner group will be on Sunday, August 12, 2012, that is this Sunday.  The first hike for the intermediate group will be on Sunday, August 19, 2012, that is next Sunday.  If you are interested in joining us, please register through the site at .  If you have any questions please feel free to email me back.


What about running your first 1/2 marathon or setting a PR?  Giant Strides has two great offers.  If you have never run a half marathon before or are looking to improve your time, you might be interested the 1/2 marathon package.  This package will include a running program, nutritional advice for the run, as well as group runs on Saturday mornings.  Or maybe you just need a group to run with, you are more than welcome to come out and join the group on Saturday.  There will be several different pace groups that will be going at the same time so you never feel like you “have to keep up,” you can just enjoy the run at your pace with a friend.  Please check out the website at to register for either of these two events.
